Hello all,
I thought I'd start a Celeste thread, simply because nobody else has done so yet...
I have a genuinely lovely (& original) 1987 Celeste 152 - she's still in truly superb order and is as dry as a bone, even though she sits outside in all weathers without a cover...a couple of times a year I give her a good clean & polish up (as I have today!) and I make sure that I leave a heater on inside during the cold winter months to keep any damp away...apart from that, its just her excellent build quality that keeps her going!
I have had her for a few years now - buying her from my parents before me and I now use her mostly to attend the various classic car shows around the country...she's normally towed behind one of my 'more modern' classic-cars...I am heavily into pre-war cars & WW2 Military vehicles, but generally tend to use either my 1967 Volvo Amazon 123-GT (in an almost identical shade of white!) my 1985 Opel Monza GSE or my 1990 Mercedes 300SE...other than that, I have a 2001 Range Rover P38 4.0 which I use too...
I love my old Celeste - it'd be really nice to see some others about from time to time too...well, we can all hope, can't we!
Regards - Guy.

Hello Guy
I also have a Celeste. Use it similar to you, but for steam fairs. Strong van that will take going on and off the rough sites that steam fairs are held on.
Cheers
Alyn

I too have a 1988/89 Celeste 13/2. It is kept outside in all weathers. I have, sadly, noticed that the "plastic" roof and front panel have begun to craze and crack (is there anything that can be done about this?) and the wooden floor underneath the 'van is rotting in a few small places, especially along the door edge and wheel arches! Be advised on the latter! Inside it is dry and totally serviceable. The front window needs replacing: we have a replacement, but I gather it is a bugger to fit - any suggestions? The shower tray has also cracked along the side adjoining the bench loo - any suggestions with this one? Otherwise it works fine, although the battery charge cannot charge the battery effectively: think that the switch to 230volts mains supply has prevented the unit from working properly, as it has to be rated and working with a 240v input.

I just bought an 87 Cotswold Celeste 13/2. I will be collecting it in a few days so I'll put some photo's up.
It needs a good clean and a few jobs doing here and there but it seems solid enough. I couldn't find evidence of any damp anywhere but I'll probably find some when I get it home as I usually do!
Does anyone know the body length of the 13/2 ? The inside is 13 feet. I want a cover to go on it and don't know which size to get ? Any recommendations ?
Cheers,
Matt.

We have a Celeste 1990,15/2..We keep it outside, and have had it for several years..we do, however desperately need a front window for it, as its cracked and leaking and has caused a bit of damage to the inside,we have tried all sorts of breakers and no one seems to have this size window...We hav'nt been able to use the van now, for some years as we just don't seem to be able to get a replacement...Does anyone on here have any ideas where we could obtain one? At the moment we just have a plastic cover where the window should be, so its open to the elements, which isn't good..

All I can suggest is keep an eye out for one on Ebay. Vans do come up occasionally being broken but I must admit I haven't seen one for a while now. There's a few bits i need too. They're getting thin on the ground now.
