Hi, I am looking into buying a 1982 Cotsword Windrush Caravan. Does anyone know if the whole chassie and basepan in the 1982 windrush is metal? Thanks

Hi, welcome aboard. There is much debate over accurately dating a Windrush but if you can categorically say the one you've been offered is a 1982 model then it would be what we class as a Mk2. What I think you are looking for is if the chassis is made from steel or aluminium If it is a 1982 model then it will be steel. I can't say for sure but it is probably made by B&B Trailers - it might also be galvanised. FYI - the later aluminium chassis are a dead givaway - they are huge and look oversize. They also don't have any holes in the sides unlike the steel alternatives. Personally - not a good idea if you plan on towing it with a harsh vehicle like a Land Rover Good luck Mark...

HI I have come across an article in an old caravan club magazine En Route from July 1984. It refers to the whindrush 13/2 being made in standard form until 1980,then an optional model was made available with shower 13/2S . The standerd 13/2 was discontiued in 1981. It also refers to the only changes made for 1984 are the fitting of polyplastic frameless acrylic windows in place of the framed windows .

Thanks, Rich
Does that mean that 13/2S means that the only difference is the shower? I am trying to date mine (bought yesterday!). There was no loo in the specs but otherwise it's a super little van for its age and price.

The “S” feature does denote the presence of a shower and it came about on the late Mk1’s circa 1980 and was available for about a year before the Mk2 entered service in 1982. The obvious giveaway between the Mk1 and Mk2 models is as follows: Mk1: Clear/grey windows and white with grey bodywork – although the very last ones could have had a Mk2 colour scheme on the bodywork. Mk2: Brown windows and white with beige bodywork. Both have triple front windows in their respective colour and all are framed. Niether had a factory fitted loo to my knowledge. Try and post some pictures and I’ll be able to help some more Rich, Any chance you could scan the article and post it on here or email it to me?

We have just purchased a Windrush 15/2s. I was interested to see that the 's' indicates shower, which we have. What we don't have is any sort of manual or handbook explaining how everything works. Can anyone help please?

You can get( if lucky) each manual from the manufacturer who made each appliance off the internet. You will need time and patient to manage this but Alko ,alde and most others have these as downloadable types on their websites. I don't have a owners manual for my 13/2 Cotswold Celeste either but I did receive with it all the other manuals and the electrics layout( hand drawn & dated march 1989) and a unfilled check sheet for it when it was built. The check sheet gives the spec for either the celeste or windrush of this time. Fridge manuals from dometic / Electrolux are hard to find but there is one camper site has them but I cant remember which one- sorry!!! the site does mainly vw camper spares. I can copy somethings if they are the same for your van no problem just give me a name &address or email and I will send it on to you. Best of luck and happy trawling through the internet-hope this helps some bit.
