After spending the best part of a week preparing the caravan for our first trial outing after I’m sure many years of dormancy everything performed brilliantly. We did have problems with the Carver MK1 water heater blowing out but it was incredibly windy! The work necessary for the trip was: New tyres (and the wheels repainting). The brakes and bearings didn’t need anything doing as all worked fine except I did replace both brake rod return springs as they were corroded. New 12N wiring and plug as it was too short to fit the Land Rover socket and a new 12S plug albeit this circuit is unused at the moment. As a kind of safety improvement I reconfigured the rear light wiring so that the stoplights now illuminate what would normally be the fog lights as I felt the original combined stop/tail lights were a little feeble especially in bright daylight. I have no desire to ever tow in foggy conditions plus the land Rover tow socket is wired to the old towing standard (permanent live instead of fog lights).

Brilliant sounds like you have checked it all out and everythings working fine now due to your good work on it. Well Done I bet your pleased with the results and it certainly sounds like you will be enjoying your van in the coming years. Stuart
