Hello, new member seeking to learn about the older style Windrushes while I seek to purchase one. Could anyone please clarify the model range and layouts available particularly with the larger vans. I am not interested in the later (sloped front) vans; very nice I’m sure, but I’m specifically after the traditional older style model.
Many thanks Mark…

Hello Mark
Is there any particular model you're interested in finding out about?

Hello Heather, I’m really looking at what my options are with the older style design of caravan. Ideally I need the van to be a big as possible and my research so far has only revealed a Windrush 15/2S. I have seen both 2 and 4 berths as 13 footers and some smaller 2 berths, but these are too small for our needs.
Stuart, You are spot on – that looks like a 15 footer probably a 2S. I have already seen that advert but it is a long way from home though! At that price it might not be great so happy to hold out for something a little more loved.
Does anyone know if the flat fronted Windrushes ever had the Syspal aluminium chassis fitted as this will be a no go for me!
Thanks Mark…

Hi Mark
I have a 15/2S and it has a steel chassis (it's the same as the one in the pic Stuart posted). We just had it the front hitch replaced because it had been living by the sea and the sea air had taken it's toll. Suprisingly, the main chassis, which wasn't so exposed is still fine.
From what I've seen of them so far, the interiors vary in finish, but all have separate bathroom (sink & shower), a sink and oven/hob at the opposite end of the caravan to the seating area and a fridge at the side with wardrobe and heater opposite. They are very roomy for two people.

Just an update - we collected our new edition on Saturday. It is a Windrush 15/2S circa 1978/9. Generally she is nice and solid only needing minor tlc and cosmetic attention. Towed it 100 miles home faultlessly although the tyres leave a lot to be desired!
If it ever stops raining we might even get a chance to wash it and tinker. I'll upload some photos later in the week.

Look forward to seeing your photos Mark.
A good choice and investment me thinks.
Take off all the awning rails and re seal even if there are no signs of damp ingression. It may be time consuming but prevention is better than cure and less costly in the long term.
gets some new tyres on it as well if suspect. should last you a lifetime if sealed and looked after.
Cheers stuart

Picture taken just as we picked her up Interestingly the dealer sticker on the rear panel is only 20 miles from where we live so she's ending up where she started life all those years ago.
